CVS synced bookmarks file added

I try to do most personal document management using CVS (concurrent versioning system). I haven't been doing a good job of that lately, I haven't even been using my custom journal script that logs things into CVS that much either. I've added my Mozilla bookmarks file into CVS so I can sync that accross machines or just access it from my site when I'm on someone else's computer. I may have some weird stuff on there, but hopefully nothing too embarassing... :P Bookmark The link is also on the left.

Survival Backpack

My buddy who lives in SF reminded me on a good common sense idea that I've been meaning to take care for a while. The quick availability of a backpack containing some basic survival items that would last you maybe for a few days. It makes a bit more sense living in a dense urban area like SF, especially if there is a big earthquake or something, but I figure its not a bad idea anywhere. I'm still trying to come up with the list, but here is what I've got going so far in no particular order.

  • compact first aid kit, ibuprofin
  • small notebook, pens, hard copy of important phone numbers
  • compact LED headlamp
  • chapstick, 30SPF sunblock, bar of soap, moisturizer lotion
  • compact roll of TP and baby wipes
  • tactical Flashlight
  • USB flashdrive with backup of critical files and photos
  • latex and leather gloves
  • military or ski style goggles
  • 4 bottled water and water purifier
  • disposable camera
  • leatherman
  • lighter
  • boot knife
  • 2 pairs clean underwear
  • toothbrush / toothpaste
  • colapsable rimmed hat
  • 6 MREs from the surplus store
  • warm windbreaker jacket
  • mirror (thanks Amber for the suggestion!)

I'm sure there's more to add... its a work in progress. Anyway, most likely I'll have most of it ready for my trek across the country in a bit.

No suprise that San Jose has made the list for one of the fattest in the country. I've known it for a long time. People at work and around me always ask me why I always leave town on the weekends. Well folks, this is one of the main reason why. Firstly, I am attracted to thin women, I mean thats just my nature, but even for meeting people in general, I don't think its unreasonable not to want fat friends when you are a fit person. On my free time, I participate in healthy outdoor activities, fat people can't do any of those things with me. I realize some people have medical reasons for being overweight which I can understand and I don't judge them all negatively, but I just have a pragmatic reason for minimizing association. When I see 4 out of 5 mid-20 year old women in San Jose that look like cows and have a boyfriend, its evident that they don't really realize how disgusting it is. I feel sorry for all the silicon valley geeks who miserably compete for such a pathetic pool of women. Guys, stop dating fat chicks! There are way tastier fish in the bigger pond! Yes, I'm sometimes an asshole and definitely un-PC. Source
